Whole lotta shakin' goin' on!

Well, our city made headline news today. The earthquake we experienced this morning had its epicenter right here in Chino Hills. We're all fine and no damage. There was an odd roar, followed by a jolt and then the shaking began. It seemed like it lasted for quite awhile and then was followed by what I experienced as a feeling of the ground rolling underneath our feet. Ramy and I were unable to contact each other for awhile, and I couldn't get a line through to call Nanny Rebecca (who was here with Baby Rebecca) on her cell or at our house. Ramy called my mom and relayed to her that he'd talked to Nanny Rebecca and they were fine, as was he. So then I called my mom and learned that. The books all fell out of the bookshelf in our office, and we had a lot of pictures that were hanging funny. Other than the chandelier over our stairs swinging for several minutes and a lot of car alarms going off, that was the extent of it here. Ramy came home to check for gas leaks or cracks in the house. Luckily, Chino Hills was established after I was already in high school, so all of the buildings here are very new. I think there was some structural damage reported in Pomona but none in Chino Hills that I know of. So it was an exciting day.
