One of the exciting activities that we did during Christmas was to see the national tour of Beauty and the Beast. We had wanted to see it in Southern California around Thanksgiving, but it ended up conflicting with some other plans. So we caught it on tour in Birmingham (Alabama).
It is important to note that although Rebecca loves the Disney princesses, she will actually only watch one of the movies (Cinderella - maybe we can add Tangled to the list, since she has seen it now). She does not like most of the Disney princess movies, because there are scary people or villains in most of them. She would not ever watch Beauty and the Beast (the movie version) because she had decided just from the cover of the DVD that the Beast was scary. Nonetheless, Rebecca likes dress-up occasions and opportunities to see shows "on stage" (this is clearly my influence). So we bought the tickets and everyone was excited.
Rebecca did enjoy the show, but she was quite afraid of the Beast. Afterward, she has claimed to not like the show, but during the event, she was certainly bopping along to all the music. She was dancing in her seat and ooohed and aahhed over the costumes. It was a fun girls day outing for us, even though I don't think that the production changed Rebecca's mind about the Beast being scary.
