With all my thankfulness, I haven't posted much lately about what all has been going on with us.
My mom arrived on Saturday, November 22. We picked her up at LAX and went to Louise's Trattoria for dinner. We all went to mass on Sunday morning. My mom and I had tickets to see 25th Annual Putman County Spelling Bee (it's a musical) on Sunday afternoon at the Cerritos Performing Arts Center. It was a cute, fluffy show. I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't see it again.
On Monday, we drove out to Redlands to visit with my mother's cousin Linda, and we ate breakfast at one of my favorite places there (The Eating Room). On Tuesday, I had to go to work at Casa Colina, and my mom stayed with Rebecca. I think they must have had a good day together. I didn't have many clients, luckily, but I had to finish up a report on a pretty complex case. Tuesday night, we went to dinner at BJs and then took Rebecca to Toys R Us to see things that she liked. (Santa needs suggestions on which doll she would like best).
On Wednesday morning, we went to breakfast and then headed out to Vegas. Rebecca was asleep before we got to the Cajon Pass (20 minutes from our house), and we were in Nevada (less than half an hour from Vegas) before she woke up. We got to Vegas around 12:30, got parked at the Venetian and were able to check in early.
Rebecca and Ramy chillaxin' in our suite:
We ate Italian for lunch at the Venetian, then we had dinner at Caesars Palace at a steak place. We had some pretty interesting entertainment in a gentleman who was dining across from us. He was all by himself but was apparently celebrating something pretty big, and he was savoring every bite. He started with a full plate of oysters of the half shell and made eating each one into something of an art form. After each bite, he would lean back against the back of his booth, spread his arms open wide, look up, and his eyes would roll back in his head and he would have this look of complete pleasure on his face. Next, he had a huge steak and did the same thing with it. After each bite, he leaned back, still with a fork in one hand and a knife in the other, looked up at the ceiling and then closed his eyes. I'm not sure what was going on with that guy, but he certainly kept me entertained. I couldn't help staring at the guy.

We walked around at Paris, the Bellagio, Caesars, and the Venetian. Rebecca enjoyed being able to run around and see everything. She especially enjoyed FAO Schwartz, because she got to leave with a super soft stuffed dog that looked exactly like Sydney.

My mom and I played slot machines for a bit that night. Thursday morning, we got up and explored a bit more before heading over to the Wynn. We had Thanksgiving brunch at their amazing buffet. Rebecca's new stuffed dog accompanied us and Rebecca tried feeding him some of her food.
After walking around and enjoying the Wynn for a while, we headed on back to SoCal. We got back to Chino Hills late Thursday afternoon, and we had Italian for dinner. Then we went home, so my mom and I could get some shuteye before Black Friday began.
We were up early and were out the door just after 5 a.m. We went to Santa Anita mall, because they have a Nordstrom, a Baby Gap, and a Janie and Jack. We started at Gymboree, then hit up the sales at Janie and Jack, and Baby Gap, then we needed a cinnabon to revive us. The only place where he stood in line a ridiculously long time was at Macys, and that was only because the sales associate was completely inept and didn't know how to do his job. We had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory and shopped until mid-afternoon. Santa Anita was a total madhouse. Once when I took bags to the car, I got cursed because I wasn't leaving!
On Saturday, we mostly hung around at home, trying to clean up a bit, and I put up the Christmas tree. It is not completely decorated yet, but I certainly had a lot of help from Rebecca in the decorating process.
We walked around at Victoria Gardens, so that I could show Ramy what I liked at the Coach store. Yesterday morning, we went to mass and then attempted to taje pics for our Christmas cards. However, Rebecca was less than cooperative on those endeavors. We'll see if we have better luck today!!
