36 hours without internet

Well, our internet and phone (both powered by Time Warner Cable) went out sometime night before last and was off all day yesterday and last night. Thankfully it got fixed today and we are connected with the world again. Thank goodness we still had cell phones, or I'd have been in panic mode. I don't like feeling disconnected - I get antsy if I realize that I'm driving without my cell phone. In fact, I really need to have my cell phone in my hand. Ridiculous, I know.

On Monday, Rebecca and I met up with Julie and Addie for a little get-together. Yesterday, I did an outpatient neuropsych eval. Luckily, it was a pretty straightforward case. No crazy psych issues to get in the way of just figuring out what's wrong with the brain. I also did a feedback session with a client from a couple of weeks ago. It was one of the best clinical experiences I've ever had. This poor girl had struggled and struggled and had always thought of herself as being defective and it has affected her whole life. Getting validation that she is not dumb, but in fact actually much brighter than average, but that she has been drug down by things that are indeed fixable seemed to change her life right there on the spot. It was a really touching moment for me, and I learned so much from the experience. Today, I had an office/scoring/writing day at Casa Colina and got his whole protocol scored and finished most of the report. I've got to finish that tomorrow, because we're headed out of town this weekend for a little roadtrip, and we have to get the report ready for him to see his doctor next Monday.

No outbreaks of the swine flu anywhere around us, although we're certainly in a prime target location for it, given our proximity to Mexico and the number of people in our area who frequently travel back and forth across the border. Surprisingly, at work, it hasn't been much of an issue yet. It's nice to have access to things like sani-wipes and masks just in case there's total pandemonium and we can't get them!
