Mothers

It's been a happy Mother's Day weekend in our house. Rebecca has asked multiple times daily when it would be Mother's Day, and this morning, she was so excited to finally give me my gifts. Yesterday, she was equally excited to give me and Grandma some flowers. She's so very sweet. We took Ramy's mother out last night, and today they were going to take me out to one of my favorite restaurants in Pasadena. However, our friend Maddie was hosting a Mother's Day brunch and wanted us to come there, which was much more fun than a restaurant. Unfortunately, Grammy wasn't with us - she's in Tennessee and spent Mother's Day with Aunt Margaret, Lynn, and Carol and families. But it's been a good day celebrating motherhood, and what an amazing thing to celebrate. My own mother has been such a force in my life, and I probably strove to emulate her in a thousand ways of which I'm not even fully aware. I see that Rebecca does the same with me, from wanting to put on makeup alongside me at the bathroom mirror to wanting to cook or bake. It reminds me what a sacred role it is to be a mother and that God entrusts me with the care and shaping of his little one.
